History
In the Summer of 1991, the Erpf Catskill Cultural Center, under the direction of Carol
O'Beirne, began the one-month long cultural workshop program title: Kids in the
Kaatskills'.  Ms. O'Beirne enlisted community residents, area fine and folk artists,
folklorists and naturalists to share their interests, skills and life long experiences
living in the Catskills with their youngsters who were part of the diverse community of
families who lives both full-time and part-time in the region.  One of the most
supportive of the community leaders was Kathleen Scheider of Fleischmanns and
NYC, who had over the years with her husband Edward, been giving of their time and
financial support to community projects, specifically those involving children.  Once
called upon to become actively involved with the Kids in the Kaatskills program, Kaye
agreed and became a daily volunteer helping to insure the success of the program.

Children between the ages of 6-13 yeas of age were offered a full schedule of
programs during the month of August.
